ANSYS Academic Multiphysics Campus Solution

Produktinformation

ANSYS is a software for simulations in engineering. It helps to test the behaviour of products under various conditions, such as mechanical, thermal or electromagnetic influences, without building physical prototypes. It is used in many industries, such as automotive engineering, mechanical engineering and aviation.

The finite element method (FEM) is one of the most popular methods in engineering, but from a mathematical point of view, it is also one of the most numerically complex methods for solving mathematical modelling problems based on second-order partial differential equations.

Terms of use

The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg has a licence agreement for campus-wide use of the ANSYS finite element programme.

The software is installed on the IT Services licence server and can be used on any computer with a network connection.

The licences may be used by students and employees of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg for official purposes as well as for study, diploma, bachelor's and master's theses and dissertations.

The licences may not be used to provide consulting services or raise funds (third-party funded research).

Please note that only the software listed below may be used free of charge under the campus licence; all other ANSYS products must be purchased separately. Please contact IT Services for more information.

ANSYS regularly checks whether ANSYS software has been used without a valid licence and then imposes heavy fines on the institution, which could jeopardise the continuation of the campus licence.

FAQs

Can I also install ANSYS Fluent on Linux?

Yes, Fluent can also be used on Linux. All information on supported operating systems for ANSYS software can be found at www.ansys.com/de-DE/Solutions/Solutions-by-Role/IT-Professionals/Platform-Support.

Can you make sure that our department has all the licences we need?

The campus licence should be enough to cover your needs. If you keep running into problems, just get in touch with the URZ. They'll check if you can get more licences through the licence manager.

What if individual users require additional licences?

If the demand is higher in the long term, the campus licence can be extended.

Which port should I use?

On the licence server ‘license.b-tu.de’ lmhostid ‘0000c03450ad’), THREE different vendor daemons are currently running from the Ansys campus licence, which provide different keys.

Is there another server-side option for connecting to the licence server from outside the VPN?

No.

What if my product is not part of the campus licence?

Please send an email to software(at)b-tu.de and we will ask ANSYS to prepare a quote for you.
