Children's rights groundwork group

Discover 12 exemplary children's rights in an exciting circle! The interactive laying circle invites children to express their own ideas and thoughts on the topic. The circle can be placed on the floor or attached to the wall (or a blackboard). It is ideal for introducing the topics of children's rights or child protection; it can also be used for parental work if necessary. Each part of the circle represents a different children's right - from the right to education to the right to protection from exploitation. By arranging the respective parts, the children learn the importance of their rights in a simple way.

Structure and procedure

The laying circle consists of a total of four stages. The innermost stage contains a circle on which the next stages are based. The second stage contains more detailed explanations of the individual children's rights. The third level contains matching picture cards. The outermost level contains the names of the corresponding children's rights and is particularly suitable as an introduction or discussion starter in a circle. It is recommended to start with the picture cards; this way you can let the children tell the story and collect ideas. Then the explanations can be read out and the children can think together about which of the picture cards matches the text. Finally, the right is given a name. The aim is to end up with a large circle. There are coloured sticky dots on the back of the pieces to check for mistakes; pieces of the same colour always belong together.

Note

The laying circle should only be played with a teacher who has familiarised themselves with the topic in advance. In addition, it is important that the children's rights are discussed in more detail and deepened.

The laying circle is part of our children's rights theme box, but can also be borrowed separately.
