Five!

A collection of games has been developed under the name Five! that is specially tailored to the situation of people in refugee accommodation centres. Five different games for children and adults are combined in a handy game box. In addition to the German and English rules, the games are also available in Arabic, Farsi, Urdu and Tigrinya. For the Five! games are largely based on tried and tested game ideas, but a tactical game that has not yet been published has also been included. All games can be played with the same two-colour set of white and black pieces and do not require a game board.

Structure and procedure

Which games does the collection include?

  • 5 in a row: A simple tactical placement game for two people in which five pieces of your own colour have to be placed in a row.
  • Torris: A strategy game for two players in which the pieces have to be stacked to form towers. The value printed on the pieces determines how far they can be moved. The winner is the player who has placed the top stone on the most towers.
  • Number poker: A bluffing game for two to four players in which they select one of their tiles face down under the table and hold it in their closed fist. When it is revealed, the highest number wins, with equal numbers neutralising each other.
  • Hat game: A memory game in which four tiles are laid out face up and then swapped face down in three moves. The player is then asked where the "three" is located, for example. If the answer is correct, you get the tile.
  • Five-Solo: A solitaire game in which one tile is removed from the game at a time by skipping tiles until, ideally, only one tile remains at the end.
