Figure check A team game for communication professionals

The "figure check" is an exciting exercise that funds team communication, active listening and a structured approach. The aim of the group is to determine the colours and shapes of two missing parts of a set through pure verbal communication while blindfolded. This exercise sharpens perception, strengthens trust and requires good coordination within the group.

Number of participants

Minimum: 8; optimum: 18; maximum: 28

Age recommendation

from 12 years

Duration

30 to 50 minutes (without evaluation)

Place

At least 3 x 4 metres (The exercise can be carried out both indoors and outdoors.)

Set-up and procedure

The participants sit in a circle of chairs or criss-cross around the room. It is advisable to use a circle of chairs to simplify the exercise, as this creates a natural order for communication. Each participant needs a blindfold or opaque scarf (both can be borrowed from the lab).

Preparation: The instructor removes two pieces from the 30-piece figure check set in advance. The remaining 28 pieces are distributed among the group.

Execution: All participants take their seats and blindfold themselves. The participants can ask the instructor for the colours of their pieces and receive the correct answers. The parts may not be exchanged or touched. Everyone stays in their own place and as soon as the group agrees, the solution is presented: One person names the colour and holds up the corresponding shape - first for one, then for the other missing part.
